It doesn’t matter how much of a clean freak you tend to be, the odors and stenches of everyday life are unavoidable. However, do not let that get you down. In this article, we will show you a few easy tips for getting rid of bad household odors for some of the most common causes.

1. Sweat

Dirty clothes stink. This is especially true if the clothes are workout ones. Add half a cup of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda to the laundry in order to make sure the smell comes out in the wash. It is similar to baking soda, and you will find it in the laundry aisle. It takes the smell right out of fabrics.

2. Garbage can

In case the can itself smells, wash it with white vinegar and warm water. You can also try to sprinkle in some Odorzout, let it sit 4-5 minutes, then dump out and rinse the can. However, if the bag is not full yet and the garbage is smelly, we recommend dumping in some coffee grounds, which neutralize smells.

3. Disposal

Do not put onion peelings, carrot peelings, or potato skins down your disposal. When they start to decay they really smell. These can cause you to call a plumber more often than any other foods. As for keeping your disposal smell-free, we recommend putting some ice in the disposal and grinding it. Now, sprinkle Borax down the disposal, run water, and grind it. There are other things which you can do, as well. For example, put the stopper in the sink and add 3-inches of warm water and mix in a handful of baking soda. Now, turn on the disposal and pull out the stopper right away. This creates suction, pulls the baking soda mixture down the disposal and, of course, cleans it.

4. Pets

Pet smell can be hard to get rid of because it is constant and becomes embedded in fibers. Odorzout is our favorite solution for getting the smell out of the carpet and fabrics. It is 100% natural and children and animals can be around it without worry. It is a dry product that you sprinkle on the affected area and it absorbs the odor. All you have to do is vacuum it up. In our opinion, Massengill Douche (any kind except the medicated or vinegar type) is the best solution for a smelly dog. All you have to do is put vaseline over the eye of the bottle so it won’t spray too quickly, wet down your pet, and spray the douche on your dog.

5. Cigarettes

Even when you ask a person to smoke outside your home, the smoke can still come into the house through open doors and stay there. However, there is a solution for that. All you have to do is use a hand towel and pour white vinegar over it, then wring it out. Now, take it and walk through the house swinging it in the air. This will get rid of the smell quickly. In addition, it is all-natural and no one is breathing in chemicals.
